I'm still here

haha Neco, that's the title of the Joaquin Phoenix Mocumentary right? I wonder if that says something about my blog :D

well, I haven't been far away in thoughts from this baby blog of mine or you dear Neco! or from writing for that matter. In fact, I think I might have way too much on my plate. I may actually have to *gasp* pick ONE thing and put the others aside for a bit. So, how to decide? Let's do inventory:

1) Alix Falls Under- middle grade fiction, a few chapters down, but it's coming a long nicely. Loving my characters, the setting etc. But I have hit a bit of a plotwall.
2) Zombie Girl- middle grade fiction, again a few chapters, it's going painfully slow. I'm not ready to put this one away though.
3) Apple (it's a working title)-only plot outline, character bits and pieces etc, possible young adult. This is slowly brewing.
4) Untitled Halloween story-still over 750 words lol but dangit I like it!
5) Short story collection- good time fillers, word exercises etc

Seems pretty easy, right? Go with Zombie Girl!

Oh, I forgot number 6) NaNoWriMo idea (only idea since I can't really write anything, that would be cheating I think!)- The Point in Dying, I can't put that aside, but since it isn't until November, I don't really have to worry about it now.

Now speaking of zombies, I started to read Rot and Ruin-good times :D full report when I'm finished
and speaking of books, I finished Mr. Peanut. Hmmm, not so much good times. I was intrigued and disgusted (not necessarily a bad thing), but in the end I still can't decide if I actually enjoyed the book.

Alright Neco, that's it for today! I won't stay away for so long next time, I promise! I still need to do a Dark Tower blog! Yay- I had a dream Justin Timberlake was cast as Eddie- somehow I was not unhappy. ?

Dairy, Zombies and The Dark Tower

Well well well, so much for keeping up on this baby blog, little Neco!

But as you know, I've been feeling a little icky. And a couple trips to the er have not helped!
What's wrong you ask? I may have developed an adult onselt allergy to dairy of all things! Yes that means milk, cheese, butter.. mmhmm... you have the idea. So while i wait to meet with the allergist to get this all straightened out I get to take ALL dairy out of my diet. ALL. Do you know what that means? I can live without the butter for a couple weeks. I can even live without the cheese, and milk and miscellaneous items (you would be shocked at some of the things that contain milk, Neco!) but the thing that is KILLING me my dear cyber friend, is chocolate. Let me give you a minute so you can fully appreciate that. I have to avoid eating chocolate for the next 2 weeks. That's like someone telling me my eyes were suddenly allergic to reading, and I would have to stop looking at words! The horror! **sigh** It's only 2 weeks, right? (no, don't remind me that I may actually be allergic to dairy and have to avoid it for life!!! Fiddle dee dee, Neco, fiddle dee!)

Random thought, do you know who doesn't have to worry about dairy allergies? Zombies! On the other hand, I guess they don't have a hankering for cheese all that much, do they? I wonder what zombies are allergic to? There's a story idea in there somewhere.

So, onto something else that's kind of a big deal. My favorite book series of all time, by my favorite author of all time, The Dark Tower by Stephen King will soon be made into a trilogy and TV series. For full details, read http://http//www.stephenking.com/promo/dark_tower_film_and_tv/news_tracker/.
I'm a little giddy! Ok, ok, I'm a lot giddy! Already the haters have come out to protest, but I have no doubt this will be epic! The big question of course, who will play Roland? My dream cast has changed over the years. I'll have to think on it. But I would love to see Viggo Mortensen in the role. To me, he is the obvious choice. I am going to have to dedicate an entire post to a dream cast. What fun that will be, eh Neco?
I think I will do that for next week's post then. Maybe put up a poll as well.

What if zombies had an allergic reaction to low IQs? high IQs?

Led, Scheme, and Sigh

Well this is it. My first blog. I’ll be honest, I’m scared. It’s kind of like this dream I have. I’m on the high dive, and I’m naked in front of a huge crowd, and just as I’m about to dive in, I realize there’s a great white shark swimming below me with a me-eating grin on his snout. Yeah, I have dreams like that sometimes.

So I’m staring at my blank screen with a big black hole where my followers should be, feeling a bit intimidated. Who exactly am I writing this blog for with no followers? Why it must be for you Non Existent Cyber One! Now tell me darling Neco where do I start? What do I say?
Someone suggested I go to Random Word Generator, get 3 words, then write about those words- instant blog. Seemed brilliant to me! So I grabbed 3 words, easy enough. And you know what, Neco? *snicker* I cheated!! The first three words I generated were pothey, sultippers and dang. Seriously? Admit it, you would cheat too! I’m pretty sure the first two words aren’t even real words at all. So I went to a different Random Word Generator site that uses actual words in my vocabulary and got led, scheme and sigh. Now that’s better!

Epiphany! I had a vision of a story right away. Young girl concocts a scheme to meet quirky boy she’s been crushing on. He’s a bit dark and moody, so she decides to feign interest in gravestone rubbing to get his attention. It works, next thing you know they are meeting at the cemetery, where after some beautiful flowy sentences she ditches the boy for some ghostly lover. There are some ethereal scenes and it ends with her being led to a grave far at the end of the cemetery where her hand stretches to his and she evaporates with a shivery sigh.

Wait!! What. The. Hell. First off, I don’t do romance. Ever. Second. Flowy? Ethereal? Ugh. And third. Is a blog entry supposed to be a fictional post??? The stress is getting to me.
You know in the movie Spider-Man when Peter Parker first realizes he has some spidey powers, but he doesn’t know how to use his web slinger? And he’s frustrated, trying to figure out how to get the damn web to sling. And he’s trying everything? “Go web go!” That’s me- “Go blog go!”

Ok so maybe I’m supposed to blog about me, and real life and be relevant. Here goes-

I was led to believe that to be taken seriously as a writer; I needed to have a blog. So I started one. Just like all my fellow writers that I heroworship. There’s no scheme however, because scheme implies deviousness. And I’m honest. I’m not going to pretend to be something I’m not. I’m just a girl who has loved writing and reading forever, and woke up one day realizing life is too short to not be doing something you absolutely ADORE. (Sorry for the cliché dear Neco! I heard your sigh of exasperation!) I get tongue tied, and overwhelmed, and often find I don’t know what to say. But I’m here and I’m doing this. And I’m loving it! I might even find out that I’m not great at it- but I’ll be ok. Because I will have walked among giants and skipped alongside heroes. You see, sometimes my dreams are like that too!
And that dear Neco, was my sigh of content!
